Two Days of Crime Prevention Training in Deep Creek

The Maryland Community Crime Prevention Institute (MCCPI), in partnership with the Maryland Crime Prevention Association (MCPA) and Garrett College, is planning to hold a two-day training for law enforcement and crime prevention practitioners. The program will take place as follows:

August 8 and 9, 2013
Garrett College Continuing Education Building
687 Mosser Road
McHenry, MD 21541 (Room 205)


The training will run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days and is free of charge. Breakfast and lunch will be provided both days, but students are responsible for their dinner and lodging, if necessary. The program will provide attendees with timely and up to date information concerning the following: Introduction to MCCPI and MCPA; Synthetic and Designer Drugs; Workplace Violence Today; Sexting and Cyberbullying; Gang Culture in Schools; Influence of Social Media; Homegrown Extremists and Sovereign Citizens.

The program has been approved for 12.5 hours of police and correctional in-service credits (P20932 and C12670). Registrants must attend the ENTIRE training program and successfully pass the written test to receive both in-service credit and a certificate from the Institute.

On behalf of MCCPI, I am pleased to send an invitation to you to send one or more persons to attend this training session. However, please note that since seating is limited to 50, in order to accommodate as many departments as possible, MCCPI reserves the right to limit the number of registrants per department.

Commercial Crime Prevention Training Program

The Maryland Community Crime Prevention Institute (MCCPI) is planning to hold a five-day Commercial Crime Prevention Training Program for interested law enforcement officers and personnel Statewide. The program will take place as follows:

June 17-21, 2013 – Public Safety Education and Training Center
6852 4th Street, Sykesville, MD 21784 – Room H013


The training will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily and is free of charge. However, students are responsible for their meals and lodging, if necessary. The purpose of the commercial program is to provide instruction in BASIC COMMERCIAL crime prevention methodologies and techniques. It is designed for those officers and personnel who are assigned full or part time to crime prevention and/or community policing.

The course has been approved for 30 in-service credit hours by the Police Training Commission (P17932). Registrants must attend the ENTIRE training program and successfully pass the written test to receive both in-service credit and a Certificate of Attendance from the Institute.

On behalf of MCCPI, I am pleased to extend an invitation to you to send one or more persons to attend this training session. However, please note that since seating is limited to 25, in order to accommodate as many departments as possible, MCCPI reserves the right to limit the number of registrants attending from any given department.

The program will provide attendees with timely and up to date information concerning the Influence of Social Media; Financial Exploitation; Identity Theft Victimization; Gangs and Our Schools; Hybrid Gangs; Juggalos; and Synthetic Drugs.

The program has been approved for 11 hours of police and correctional in-service credits (P20338/C12280). Registrants must attend the ENTIRE training program and successfully pass the test to receive both in-service credit and a certificate from the Institute.

On behalf of MCCPI, I am pleased to send an invitation to you to send one or more persons to attend this training session. However, please note that since seating is limited to 40, in order to accommodate as many departments as possible, MCCPI reserves the right to limit the number of registrants attending from any given department.

Community Gang Awareness TOT


FANTASTIC training opportunity that is being held July 8 and 9 at Allegany College, Cumberland, MD.

Newly updated - the training has changed as the gang culture has and we have added more emphasis on Social Media and Gangs as well as Hybrid gangs and other pertinent updates. This training is designed for those who are tasked with training others in their department, community, and / or place of employment. It will provide students with the knowledge and training needed to instruct the Community Gang Awareness Course. This training is geared toward those whose job or day to day activities may potentially bring them into contact with gang members. To register call 301-784-5338 or 301-784-5340. This training does have a $4.00 fee. It is approved for 12.5 hours of Police and Correctional In Service Training hours. The approval numbers are P20776 and C12508.
